about

Originally from Zane Merritt: Live At the Unity! in Buffalo, NY. (zanemerritt.bandcamp.com/album/live-at-the-unity-5-4-2013) The only difference is that this version is louder.

Meaningless Noise was composed in 2010 while I was studying at the Hartt School. It utilizes a metronome, preparation of the instruments with paper, a violin bow used on the guitar, a wooden rod on the bass string, and the improv power duo Zane Merritt and Ben Willis. The piece was entirely written out, but they knew what to do.

I'm fond of gesture, functional/non functional harmony, extended techniques, and low sounds. ... more
