Floating Point Overflow

by The Generous Ensemble, Meredith Gilna

/

about

The entire ensemble is hooked up to their own clicks tracks, started within a second of each other. Because of this, the piece will never sound the same way twice, and only rarely to parts line up with each other.

The players are positioned all over the room, circling the audience. When performed live, it sounds as if the players are responding to each other. I wish I could put up a version for four speakers instead of stereo, but I hope it comes across.

I'm fond of gesture, functional/non functional harmony, extended techniques, and low sounds. ... more
